14th July 1980 I cleared U.S. IMMIGRATION NEW YORK, N.Y, (so good I visited twice)…After a brief transit Boston Airport, having flown from Glasgow Prestwick, all on my own, proud of my ‘multiple applications for entry until Indefinitely VISA’.
Backpack and a letter from Clan Macmillan’s N.Y.C. Chief’s representative Andrew, written 26th June 1980 giving me detailed instructions for my first challenge : “The Train To The Planes” to the Subway and W.93rd Street…navigated smoothly with wonder and ease…I came up the subway steps at 96th Street Station and HAD ARRIVED, West 93 Street…“Oooo! Just like the Movies.” was my thought! Evelyn Had Arrived Stateside…let the adventures really begin…my first hostess a former & award winning Boston Bunny, I was in safe hands x
My host Andrew Macmillan played the ‘Doctor’ in hospital scenes of that wonderful film “ARTHUR”, and what luck, on my return flight home this was the in-flight Movie…I was so excited and YES there he was… embarrassing squeal from my seat!
I feel my US Travel Journals starting…Oh come back soon from Oklahoma Sandy Sue…I am bored here and getting into literary mischief!
“…another fine mess you got me into”
I’m sure there’s more to tell between arriving and leaving!
…Good enough to have returned post haste in 1981.
Probably the most memorable days of an incredibly happy life Rowena… “little long passed days that continue to bear sweet fruit”.
