Endeavour Morse…

Morse

From the crime novels of Colin Dextor, we have the Endeavour series with Shaun Evans as Inspector Morse,  and Inspector Morse series with John Thaw as Detective Chief Inspector Morse GM.

Why the name Endeavour? …Morse prefers to be known as Morse…his father was an enthusiast of all things Captain Cook, and a Quaker, used to names like Faith, Hope and Charity, so he called his son Endeavour after Cook’s ship.

Two very enjoyable TV series.

I found “Endeavor” first and absolutely love it. Roger Allam can do anything, and his Fred Thursday is amazing.
I tried the Detective Morse series after that, but it feels very slow, which I’m sure is a product of its time, but I just couldn’t get into it. I wanted the young Endeavor to have learned something about himself and taken steps to keep from ending up the lonely, alcoholic. Oh, well!
